For those of you who follow American Idol you know that Shout favorite Adam Lambert (who is “allegedly” gay) will be competing against Kris Allen for the title of American Idol tonight on Fox.   Although Adam Lambert has not publicly confirmed his sexuality the rumors have reached a fever pitch in recent weeks with alleged sightings of Adam with his boyfriend at OutBack Steakhouse in Pasadena,  You Tube videos of Adam singing caberet in a Gay nightclub and pictures of Adam kissing another man circulating around the internet.   

So does America care about Adams alleged sexual preference?  Are conservatives rallying behind Kris Allen for  because of his ties to conservative Christian values?  Has Americna idol turned into yet another political contest instead of a talent competition?

Let’s hope we can keep political out of American Idol and that tonight’s vote is really about talent.   If so it’s looking like an “allegedly” gay contestant just might take the prize on one of the highest rated shows on television.  Maybe you don’t watch American Idol or you really don’t care one way or the other but if you do, you might want to get on the phone and vote just to be safe!
