Coyote Warnings for Long Beach

Posted on 25 May 2009 by Shout Melissa

Sadly there seems to be an increase in missing pets around Long Beach recently. In a recent interview with the Press Telegrama local Long Beach couple recounted the night that a coyote killed their cat in their front yard.   This particular incident occurred in the area around Heartwell Park but sightings have been reported in other areas as well such as Signal Hill and Virginia Country Club.

It’s a good time to educate yourself about how to protect your family and household pets from coyote attacks. There are things you can do around your household to discourage coyotes from hunting for food in your neighborhood. Keeping trashcans sealed and bringing your pet’s food and water dishes in at night are a start. For more tips on protecting your family from coyotes visit the LA County website.
