The Press Telegram  is reporting that a  large swastika was carved into a putting green at the Lakewood Country Club over the weekend.    The 8×8 foot carving is considered a sign of hatred and has created cause for concern among residents and local officials.    

Supervisor Don Knabe is currently seeking approval to offer a $5,000 reward for information regarding the incident.  “The physical damage to the golf course may be repaired already, but the lasting damage that crimes like this leave on a community can be far more devastating,” Knabe said.

Why the public golf course was targeted is still unknown.   Anyone with information should call Detective Theo Gekas of the Lakewood Sheriff’s Station at 562-623-3500.
